The map editor

Another Portal DLC is being released, less than a month after the ‘Peer Review’ DLC. Valve is hard at work extending on its award winning ‘First Person Puzzler’. A new map editor will allow players to create their own evil testing chambers and drive others insane! Being able to share maps with the Portal 2 community and being able to rate and try others maps is a great bonus! Valve says that the map editor will be ‘easy-to-use’, great! The DLC should come out in early 2012 but it may take one of Valve’s unfortunate re-shedualling. Keep thinking with portals!

Goldeneye 007 Reloaded – Another Remake

Goldeneye 007 Reloaded

I am a great 007 fan and so really enjoy the games. When I came across this Goldeneye game trailer, I might have got quite excited! Lets face it the previous Goldeneye games didn’t follow the story-line what so ever – like lots of other James Bond games. But in this trailer I saw a decent amount from the film – it is my favourite James Bond but this could just be my imagination and it could be yet another 007 game completely different from the film. So there could be light at the end of the tunnel. If you saw Goldeneye released on the Wii last year, and its shocking graphics then this game should look like crystal for you. The MI6 ops mode looks particularly intriguing it has 4 different mode within it, you will need to use stealth, assault, elimination and defence. When I saw the multiplayer side I felt a little let down, the FPS and graphics didn’t look as good as in solo. You can play 8-16 player games and there are more maps and weapons than before! All in all I am greatly looking forward to this game being released on November 1st 2011 for America and the November 4th for Europe. I hope you are looking forward to it!

Is the Wii up to real gaming?

Wii Console

When I speak to people now, I ask what console they have and what they play on. I mostly get Xbox or PS3 but never Wii. Why is this? Well when the Wii first came out we were all like ‘wow that’s amazing!’, but now with the greatly superior Xbox Kinect and the Playstation Move it looks to be out classes. So what will happen to the Wii? My guess is it will die out like so many other consoles before it, and with the new ‘Wii u’ on the way it looks increasingly likely. But do not sell it or throw it away yet, for it is so good for parties and get together. Plus with the likely withdrawal of the Wii, comes a great reduction in the prices of games!

Call of Duty: Double XP

For the first time ever there is double XP across the whole Call of Duty franchise, for the whole weekend, that’s Call of Duty 4, World at War, Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops. My advise is use this to prestige and in doing so you will get prestige tokens in MW3 which you can buy stuff with, like an extra create-a-class or special emblems. So in Mw3 you could start of with 6 create-a-class and be ahead of the game. Beat you friends!

Battlefield 3 out now!

Battlefield 3

Battlefield 3 is out at midnight tonight! Raid those piggy banks and get down to your nearest game selling store. If your stuck on which game to buy, ‘Modern Warfare 3’ or ‘Battlefield 3’ click this link. Order at ‘Game‘ for one of the best deals. Here is some last-minute information you may need:

  • Battlefield 3 races a head of it time – with ‘Dices’ new ‘Frostbite 2’ engine it delivers high FPS for a smooth appearance.
  • There are 4 classes for multiplayer: assault, support, engineer and sniper some with special abilities equipment.
  • Vehicles such as tanks and jets can be flown in multiplayer.
  • The Maps are huge giving you more room and being capable to have a large number of players.

Remember to comment on how much you are looking forward to the game:

Just Cause 2 – what a game!

Rico Rodriguez being as epic as ever!

Thanks to Joeslife101 telling me what a great game Just Cause 2 is, I played it and within the first 5 minutes of playing it, fell in love! It has the good aspects of the original Just Cause with some upgrades with the fantastic graphics – so vivid. I must admit I did get stuck with the grappling system, it has changed dramatically from the first one plus I’m now playing on Xbox not PS2. The vehicles feel much more realistic, the island and guns feel better thought out and the Storey-line and missions are grittier and more believable. I’m not saying the first one was bad, and it wasn’t, in fact it is one of the best games I’ve played but, what a step has this game taken! You are again Rico Rodriguez, who again starts free-falling down and having ‘little’ shoot-outs with the odd enemy, sound familiar? As you go through the game you find and gather more money, vehicle and armour parts and earn chaos (by blowing stuff up). You can buy weapons, explosives and vehicles with the money. You can upgrade them with the vehicle and armour parts. The settlement or now stronghold take overs are harder due to miniguns, tanks and a lot of armed guards! The army bases are harder due to a colonel you have to kill who is better armed and protected than the previous game. This is a great game, on par with other shooters I have played plus you can drive vehicles.

App Spotlight: Rugby Kicks

Rugby Kicks 'Break The Wall' game mode

I’m not usually a sporting game fan but this game is topical due to The Rugby Word Cup finishing, only days ago. This game is like ‘Paper Toss’ and just as addictive but it’s free!. You are a rugby player with the posts in sight, you swipe the screen up and with a slight gradient to determine the direction, the speed at which you swipe determines the power of the ball. It starts off quite easy but looks to get harder as you earn more points. The points you earn can buy kit (not as important, just accessories) and other stadiums (international and club) with each of these has another game mode attached. First you start off with ‘beat The Clock’ where you have to get as many penalties as you can in 60 seconds. Once you have bought the ‘club stadium’ you get the ‘Hit The Target’ game mode which sort of explains its self. Once you have bought the ‘international stadium’ you get the ‘Break The Wall’ game mode, where there is a ‘wall’ in the posts and you repeatedly hit it to break it, again obvious. This game is great for a quick gaming fix, but I worry it might not do for a longer time but that’s, a matter of opinion.

Xbox 720?

Xbox 720, future advertising?

We all know another Microsoft console is coming. We don’t know when or what it will be called. However in ‘Real Steel’s trailer you can clearly see the Xbox 720 advertising high in the stands. The latest rumours suggest that it will be unveiled at E3 2012 but newer reports make it look more 2013! Some say EA already has next-generation console technology, EA denies these claims. Microsoft also pass no-comment on all these rumours. If the release of the Xbox 720 is in late 2013 then it will coincide with the predicted 2014 release of the ‘Unreal Engine 4’.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

I have a mate who is a big WoW (World of Warcraft) fan and has wanted me to do a blog about it for a while (Note: I don’t know much about WoW and so had to research). I’ve found my opportunity! WoW is releasing a new extension pack following the ‘Cataclysm’ extension last year ‘Mists of Pandaria’ (preview trailer). It will be the 4th expansion in the series and was announced on the 21st October in the opening ceremonies of BlizzCon 2011 in front of 26,000 cheering fans. The new expansion offers a new era of quests, raids, PVP, professions, and instances.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

The major parts:

  • Pandaren Race (pandas)
  • The region of Pandaria
  • New Class: Monk
  • Top level raised to 90
  • New talent system
  • Dungeon challenge mode
  • PVE scenarios
  • Pet battle system

Battle Field 3

Today I was browsing YouTube and came across a ‘Gadget Show’ clip of a BF3 simulator where you are the soldier. You move – He moves, you shoot – he shoots … you get it. The full ‘article’ will be on Monday 24th October and looks a cracker. But the question must be asked, will there be a Modern Warfare 3 version? Watch the clip here.
