The Xbox Dashboard update came out yesterday as many of you will be aware. Already there are many problems like the inability to connect to Xbox Live.  The most serious of these problems are broken consoles. If you have a complant about the new update head to the Xbox status page.

In my opinion the new update looks sleek, it offers a new tonne of stuff and it really separates it form the Sony’s PSN system. I really like it and I really thought i wouldn’t. What do you think? And have you had any problems? Leave your answer in the comments:

Xbox sells over Thanksgiving!

Over the Thanksgiving week in America the Xbox 360 had it’s largest sales spike in the consoles 6 year history. Consumers bought some 960,000 consoles throughout the week in the US alone. 800,000 of that was in a 24 hour period. With all the new updates and releases coming out soon Microsoft have it sorted. If Xbox 360s sell the most in December this year too then the have the prestigious title of the United States most loved console 2011.

Kinect in TVs?

Microsoft’s Xbox Kinect technology looks set to appear in next generation TVs. Microsoft are keen to push the Kinect into as many living rooms as possible, even those without and Xbox 360 gaming system. Will we be seeing TVs where you swing you arm to turn on/off a TV? Or will it involve the newer voice command that the Kinect has? Microsoft is already in the stage of licensing the technology to major manufacturers like Sony. We might see the PS3 with the Kinects’ technology.

Forza 4: IGN pack

In December a Forza 4 car extension pack will be released. IGN’s and Microsoft’s team have joined forces to create a 10 car pack. The new rides include the classic 1957 Maserati 300 S. It will be released on December 6 and will cost 560 Microsoft points ($7) but if you have purchased the Forza Motorsport 4 Season Pass the pack is free! A Season Pass will cost you 2400 Microsoft points ($29.99) at Xbox live Market place. It guarantees you access to the six planned addition packs and more!

I wouldn't mind one of these beauties!

The planned cars are:

  • 2011 Monster Sport Suzuki SX4
  • 2011 Mazda RX-8 R3
  • 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor
  • 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS-369
  • 1977 Ford Escort RS1800
  • 1981 Volkswagon Scirocco S
  • 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio Verde
  • 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT
  • 2010 Maserati GranTurismo MC GT4
  • 1957 Maserati 300 S

Xbox or PS3

For quite a while now the ultimate gamers question has been ‘Xbox or PS3?’. I am a Xbox guy and have been for almost a year. I used to play on a PS2 and it was a good console, but how things have improved. Price – the Xbox is cheaper, however you are missing out on the blu-ray capability of the PS3. Feel – I really like the Xbox controller, it fits snugly in your hand and I would say, is a better choice for the more competitive gamer. PS3, I feel is for the ‘luxurious’ gamer (so to speak) for it has better graphics and not to mention the beautiful curvy black console (better looking than the Xbox). Games – there isn’t much between them, normally the games are released at the same time for both of them. Xbox live tends to get the map packs and additions to games first, PS3 network a week or two later.

In summary both are great consoles and I wouldn’t say no to either! But because I don’t need the blu-ray and I really do like the Xbox controller, I tend to swing towards Microsoft’s Xbox. You may be calling me bias right now but it is just my opinion. What are you? Xbox? or PS3? leave your answer in the comments:

MW3: First Impressions

MW3 has been out for a bit now and I have really enjoyed playing it. From the small amount of time I played, I sort of got to grips with the weapons and a few perks. It is a cross between MW2 and Black ops, you have to take it slow yet still be aggressive. The way the guns level up is so pleasing, the maps are bight and colourful – unlike the depressing black ops maps. The proficiencies really pay of and the camo’s are really cool. The class to start of with, I would recommend is the UMP ‘rush class’ or the Noobtube ‘assault class’ ( the noobtubes are so much less powerful). I haven’t got to grips with the maps as so many people probably haven’t yet. My tip is to take it slow for the first couple of games on a map and look for the camping and high traffic spots – not to mention the cut throughs and short cuts. The new perks are so hard to remember for they have been renamed and revamped – in this blog I won’t go there. The decent guns are the Scar-l and M4A1 and fell good and handle well. Start of with the ‘Support Strike Pakage’ to maximise your point steaks and help make up for those noobie instances at the start of the game. It also helps your team mates. Another bonus is that if you die half way through your streak then your hard work doesn’t die with you, you keep building on this type of point streak. Once you have got to know the maps and are ‘at one with your gun’ move on to the ‘Assault Strike Package’ for the bigger better kill streaks! Hope this helped – remember to subscribe up for updates, there will be more in depth blogs about the game. Good look in your killings!

Goldeneye 007 Reloaded – Another Remake

Goldeneye 007 Reloaded

I am a great 007 fan and so really enjoy the games. When I came across this Goldeneye game trailer, I might have got quite excited! Lets face it the previous Goldeneye games didn’t follow the story-line what so ever – like lots of other James Bond games. But in this trailer I saw a decent amount from the film – it is my favourite James Bond but this could just be my imagination and it could be yet another 007 game completely different from the film. So there could be light at the end of the tunnel. If you saw Goldeneye released on the Wii last year, and its shocking graphics then this game should look like crystal for you. The MI6 ops mode looks particularly intriguing it has 4 different mode within it, you will need to use stealth, assault, elimination and defence. When I saw the multiplayer side I felt a little let down, the FPS and graphics didn’t look as good as in solo. You can play 8-16 player games and there are more maps and weapons than before! All in all I am greatly looking forward to this game being released on November 1st 2011 for America and the November 4th for Europe. I hope you are looking forward to it!

Is the Wii up to real gaming?

Wii Console

When I speak to people now, I ask what console they have and what they play on. I mostly get Xbox or PS3 but never Wii. Why is this? Well when the Wii first came out we were all like ‘wow that’s amazing!’, but now with the greatly superior Xbox Kinect and the Playstation Move it looks to be out classes. So what will happen to the Wii? My guess is it will die out like so many other consoles before it, and with the new ‘Wii u’ on the way it looks increasingly likely. But do not sell it or throw it away yet, for it is so good for parties and get together. Plus with the likely withdrawal of the Wii, comes a great reduction in the prices of games!

Need For Speed:The Run

Tomorrow will see the release of the demo for Need for Speed:The Run for Xbox 360 and the day after for PS3. The next game in the Need for Speed franchise sees you race from San Francisco to New york for a $25 million reward. You, Jack seem to yet again be on the wrong side of the law in contrast to Need for Speed:Hot Pursuit where you could be part of the police force or the Racers.

Need for Speed:The Run

In this cross-country race there are no allies, no rules and winning is the only way out. You’re up against the most notorious racers from all over the world, racing through dense city centers, down icy mountain passes and along narrow canyons. The stakes have never been higher in a Need for speed game – you win the race or lose your life. It isn’t just as simple as winning the race though for you have a ruthless police force constantly on you tail to stop this underground race. They will use any means necessary, including lethal force. A weird change to the Need for Speed franchise is that there is out-of-car action, where you jump from roof tops in a chase and attack police.

This game truly is a race for your life! pre-order by November 18th (tomorrow) and get 3 exclusive free cars! There are 3 additional Packs that you can pre-order too with a challenge series inspired by a previous Need for Speed game (Most Wanted, Carbon and Underground) plus you will get 2 other cars to use from one of the games!
