You are the Assassin in this free game, taking down mobsters, criminals and generally bad guys. You meet your array of shady contacts, all have a price but all reap rewards. Select your weapon form 20 distinctive sniper rifles, hand guns, assault rifles, submachine guns and even tranquilizers. Spot your target, zoom in, breath in and take the shot, all with this awesome action shooter. You can go for headshots for extra cash and XP but, there is a time limit so don’t spend all day aiming. You’re job could be a simple shot or an ambush! With the vast amount of customisable aspects of this game it is one of my favourite shooters on the App Store.

App Spotlight: Skies of Glory

Skies of Glory Online Dogfight

Are you the Ace in the sky? This WW2 flying game is great and uses the accelerometer. First you pick a plane – German, American or British. Then pick the main weapon – rockets, bombs or heavy machine gun (you also have a light machine gun). On your own you can have set dogfights, which as you go through them vary by the number of enemies and the number of your wingmen. There is also a campaign which changes from you attacking ports to escorting bombers. There is an online multiplayer which you can either have a huge ‘dogfight’ (teams and free-for-all) or attack the base. This is a fantastic game, you will not stop playing on it.

App Spotlight: High Noon

High Noon Duel

Howdy Cowboy, get your Gunslinging buddies for this Wild West Shootout! This fun game is free and expertly uses the accelerometer, where you go from a stance (your iPod/iPhone is pointing down) then you quickly whip it up at take aim. You control everything from the aim to how many bullets you reload by. So face off an opponent with your trusty revolver. You level up by earning gold which you can then go on to buy new guns (revolvers and rifles), aids – like a bit of whisky to make the pain go away, clothes and haircuts to accessorize your guy. It’s quite an adrenaline packed game for an iPod! Good luck!

App Spotlight: Rugby Kicks

Rugby Kicks 'Break The Wall' game mode

I’m not usually a sporting game fan but this game is topical due to The Rugby Word Cup finishing, only days ago. This game is like ‘Paper Toss’ and just as addictive but it’s free!. You are a rugby player with the posts in sight, you swipe the screen up and with a slight gradient to determine the direction, the speed at which you swipe determines the power of the ball. It starts off quite easy but looks to get harder as you earn more points. The points you earn can buy kit (not as important, just accessories) and other stadiums (international and club) with each of these has another game mode attached. First you start off with ‘beat The Clock’ where you have to get as many penalties as you can in 60 seconds. Once you have bought the ‘club stadium’ you get the ‘Hit The Target’ game mode which sort of explains its self. Once you have bought the ‘international stadium’ you get the ‘Break The Wall’ game mode, where there is a ‘wall’ in the posts and you repeatedly hit it to break it, again obvious. This game is great for a quick gaming fix, but I worry it might not do for a longer time but that’s, a matter of opinion.

iPhone 4S

Iphone 4S looks the same as its predecessor Iphone 4

Yesterday saw Apple announce the iPhone 4S which will be released in the 14th of October. It has a ‘duel core A5 chip’  which is the most powerful iPhone processor ever this means it’s faster: surfing the web, going from app to app and for gaming. The new camera has an 8 megapixel revulsion, with a whole new face capture system. The camera also records better than previous iPhone. The new iOs 5 operating system has many features but probably one of the most popular things is the iMessage which allows you to message other iPhones for free! (like bbm on Blackberry). There is also a large increase to the pixels on the touch screen so high you won’t distinguish each pixel! More the reason to keep the screen clean!

So why blog about a phone? Well, I believe due to the new iPhone’s quiker processor, we will be seeing much better, complex  apps! So we may actually be seeing some decent First Person Shooters and some quicker paced driving games! What kind of games are you looking forward to? leave your answer in the comments:
